What a nice surprise! This small hotel was charming and located in Buda within the castle district, just a couple of hundred meters from the Matthias Church, the Fisherman's Bastion, and the castle proper. If you like being close to the action, but like to retire at the end of the day to a laid-back, calm and quiet location, this is a great place to do so. A few minutes walk takes you to anywhere you want to go in and around the Buda Castle. Getting down to the Danube is a snap, with many delightful trails down to the trams on the riverside, or the 16 and 16A bus runs every few minutes, which is great at the end of the day when you just want to get back to the hotel after a day of enjoying all Budapest has to offer. Its a small hotel, pleasantly furnished, with a front that completely opens from the bistro area directly to the sidewalk. After the bistro area is a wonderful inner court that serves as an outdoor relaxing area for the 6 or 7 rooms located on the ground floor. Manicured potted bushed and lavender line this courtyard and separate each room's outdoor area, which has a table and two chairs for each room. We stayed in the Home Suite. A large and comfortable king size bed, a desk, 2 lounge chairs with table rounded out the "living area". There was also a standard separate room for the toilet facilities, separate shower (with L'occitane shower gel and shampoo), and a separate sink/vanity area that also was home to a two-person hot tub! Overall, one of the most comfortable rooms I have stayed in. Ever. We woke up every morning eager for the great breakfasts that the staff at Maison had ready for us. Not only was there a generous offering of ham, salamis, cheeses, breads and croissants, fruits and yogurt, fresh juices. But they also offer you a choice of 5 hot dishes from the breakfast menu.

We had a delightful four day stay at Maison Bistro. It is located in a lovely part of the Castle district - close enough to walk to anything near the Castle and Mathias Church but also situated on a street that is quiet. (If you didn't want to walk, there is a bus that circles in the Castle area that has a stop right up the block from the hotel). Also from this stop was a bus that took us to the Pest side. The buses to Pest ran about every 15 minutes. We bought a three day transportation pass and used all sorts of public transportation to get around the city. The hotel is in a building dating from the 1700s as were many of the other buildings on the street. The staff were exceptional making us feel very welcome from the first moments we arrived. The room was very comfortable and very quiet. The breakfasts had a selection of hot food prepared individually for you (I loved the eggs benedict and my husband the hungarian eggs) as well as a very well stocked buffet of breads, cheeses, yogurt and fruit. We ate dinner at the restaurant also and had a very nice meal. My husband particularly enjoyed his paprika chicken. We were fortunate to have nice weather and we walked up to Mathias Church and Fisherman's Bastion in the later evening several nights and enjoyed the beautiful view. Our stay at Maison Bistro truly enhanced our whole visit to Budapest.

Lovely hotel, comfortable beds, very quiet rooms situated around a courtyard, excellent breakfast with several options, the breakfast can be taken in the courtyard or in the airy breakfast room (doors open front and back, which was particularly nice since it was hot outside). The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The hotel is situated in Buda, close to the fisherman bastion, royal palace, etc., but also to several good restaurants. The hotel itself also offers lunch and dinner. It is a very quiet part of the city, very nice to come home to after a busy day. The views on Pest are magnificent, and it is nice to go for an evening walk through the charming streets of Buda. Public transport in Budapest is very good, with trams and buses running every few minutes. It’s a 10’ walk downhill to a big tram and metro station, but there is also a bus that runs every 3’ which has 2 stops close to the hotel (1’ walk), that will bring you there in 2’.

We stayed here for 7 nights. First of all there was a very good breakfast, the choice from the cold buffet was great, with sweet and savoury things, different juices, coffee, tea, cappuccino, expresso etc and you could go back for more, then if you wanted there was also the hot selection Eggs Benedict, Omelette, Ham and eggs etc. We ate in the restaurant on 3 occasions food was excellent. The staff were kind, helpful, professional and always ready to give advice or help solve a problem. A special thanks goes to Andrea and Adam, but we would like to thank everyone on reception, chef and kitchen, F&B and house keeping for making our stay a great one. The room we had was large with a very comfortable bed, shower,Spa bath a welcoming bottle of fizz and a slice of cake. Location is in Buda but it is really easy to go to Pest with public transport which runs every few minutes or if you feel energetic then you can go on foot.

We had a wonderful stay at Maison. The location is incredible near the Buda Castle in the most beautiful part of Budapest. Very easy to commute around with the castle bus, we didn’t mind being away from the Pest side. The property itself is extremely charming and well maintained. Never seen so much attention about details and friendlier staff. Our mini fridge was refilled daily for free, beautiful room, super comfortable and silent. The AC worked perfectly which was such a relief while it was 40 degrees outside. Daily cleaning and very helpful reception. We had breakfast included and the food was really delicious and the buffet too. We also had drinks but didn’t try the restaurant but everything was perfect.Really impossible to find something to complain about. We left very early in the morning and they arranged for us a take away breakfast for our trip. We will definitely come back when visiting Budapest again.
